MODE OF OPERATION

Daily Winning
There will be a question and multiple choice answers for every day which requires the listeners to send the answer through a short code. At the end of each day, one of the players with the correct answer will be chosen the winner. The winner’s number is announced on the Network News of the following day. He/She would be directed to a GistMe partnering Bank nationwide to collect their cash prize on presentation of proof (the mobile phone they used in playing). Four other winners from those who answered the follow up questions correctly, would also be randomly picked through a computer draw, to win N1,000 each.

Weekly Winning
Every week, two participants from the previous week would be invited to participate live in the “You Think You Know Nigeria half hour on Radio” An extra two would also be invited as back up to guard against any disappointments on the part of the initial two. (In the event that they don’t play, they would automatically qualify to play in the next session of the live quiz). The contestant with the highest point wins the weekly cash prize redeemable at any GistMe partnering bank.

How to play the Game
To play the game, interested participants are expected to listen for daily questions on Radio Nigeria and on any of its FM stations nation wide, after which they are to text the right option to the question (either A,B or C) to the Gistme code; 33020. Players will subsequently be sent a response that tells them if the answer supplied was right or wrong. Along with this, four other question in a successive order, would be sent to the player’s phone after a previous one has been answered. These follow up questions, only serve to increase the player’s chance of winning at the end of the day.

Pre-selection Screening
Prior to final selection of Contestants to feature on the Live Quiz, players from the previous week would be thoroughly screened at the end of which only four would be chosen. Players would be screened against these points;
- Eloquence
- Zeal
- Intelligence

Transportation of Contestants
If Contestants reside far from the FCT, he/she would be transported (either by road or air) thru and fro to the FCT through any of the participating Airlines/Transporters with all expenses paid. They would also be chauffeur driven within the FCT, to and back from the venue of the Live Quiz by a Partnering Leasing Company.

Accommodation/Feeding of Contestants
All expenses would also be paid for the feeding and accommodation of Contestants in any of the partnering Hotels in the FCT, for two nights only (Fri &Sat)

Win for Charity Session
Once every quarter, renowned personalities would be invited to participate on the live quiz. The winnings of this session would subsequently be shared among some UTUKN players by random selection. Also, special prizes including a motorcycle, CD players, Handsets and UTUKN T-shirts would be given away.

PRESS RELEASE : 1ST FEBRUARY, 2008

UTUKN PLUS EDITION
In the ensuring months, UTUKN is to take on a new version which includes the following;

- Players are expected to listen daily to all Radio Nigeria Stations for the question of the day and then send their answer and location to 33020. There will be no follow up questions to answer and each text costs N50 only.

- Each month of this edition is to take on a new theme; e.g UTUKN Sports, UTUKN History, UTUKN Music, UTUKN History, UTUKN Culture, UTUKN Entertainment, UTUKN Business e.tc.
Questions of the month are to center around the theme of the month and players would be expected to prove that they are versatile with the topic in view.

The daily winning of N5,000 and the N1000 to follow up winners will cease to exist.
Every week the system would selects some players with correct answers to the daily question to play for N250,000 over the phone on Saturdays. Different amounts of money are pegged to each question in a progressive order.

Saturday Question

- Each question has a time limit of 30secs. 15secs for Host to ask the question and 15secs for the player to answer. Player has only a maximum of 15secs to answer a question or he is cut off. He/she also loses the chance to play further when a question is answered incorrectly but still gets whatever amount is accrued to him/her for giving right answers to previous questions. When a player’s time is up for either of the above reasons, another player is called up.

Every Saturday twenty Home Players get to win N5,000 for answering the question of the day.
